Hey everyone. It's been a while since I posted here. Just wondering what you guys are up to. I take it that everyone has stopped playing WoW and moved on to real life commitments. Drop me a line, it would be good to catch up!

Yeah I have been logging in and idling hoping to catch you but you seem to be idling as well... Nevermind. We will catch up sooner or later.

* Edit: Might have been a bit late at 3:21am in the morning to hit you up but I remember us running later than that? Everyone has probably got their commitments nowadays I guess?

Us running that was a long time ago, as I was saying with Serris last night its nice to just play the games and let someone else theorize it til the birds greet the dawn. In the end it doesn't mean much more than few fleeting memories.

I do notice that people these days seem to suffer from burnout of doing that sort of thing far more often than what we use to encounter.

If I am on TS its usually to play a game and if I get caught idling on our TS or AFK I've probably forgotten to log off.

Yeah I really don't have much time to sit down and play games. I’m 37 this year, so a bit too old to be spending hours and hours away at the keyboard. What I wouldn’t mind though is catching up with everyone, since it’s been a long time. Does Shad still socialize or he is out of the entire thing?

Age means picking up more and more IRL commitments - wives, kids, usually more important work commitments, yadda yadda.

But moreso, I think the older you get, the less inclined you are to just sit in front of a computer all night. I spend hours on the PC, but as I've gotten older, in shorter and shorter bursts. I think back to the Molten Core days - rushing home from work, scoffing down a fucking sausage and bread as that's all i had time to make before....raiding until like 12-1am solidly. God, i couldn't think of anything worse.

Neccessity (aka the wife) made me casual, but my age supports it. I just dont care enough anymore. I also find dealing with other gamers can be a largely repulsive past-time, and i simply dont have the solid blocks of time or even commitment to co-ordinate my available time online with people i do know.

Anyway my curse is too many games. I try and focus on just one - like Planetside 2, because the moment i play something else, I lose interest in everything else. And there's always something else. So right now, I could be effectively playing any one of 10+ games, but feel like basically none of them, which is why i just walk away and go watch something on TV or read. I don't have the mental fortitude of your DB's who'll effectively live in the game until it dies. Planetside 2 is up there with the best games i've played in years, and i feel guilty for not playing it, but it's just finding that ability to be fucked amongst the endless distraction.

You are right about more commitments with age. I have too many other things to do, but having said that, I was never part of the whole WoW thing. By the time I got to Molten Core it was already up to the Burning Crusade expansion. I never really had the full on WoW experience as it were.

I was just thinking back to the Tribes days, spending hours and hours on the same damn maps trying to work out strats. I probably would have gotten more involved with WoW if I was in AE when you guys started playing. My MMO experience stopped with Planetside.

I was just looking on getting on TS and shooting the shit. H1Z1 looks pretty good at the moment but I’m going to resist the temptation to spend money on it because I know it will only lead to ass farting around on the PC when I could be doing better things.

I didnt play Tribes with AE, i was with SH, but i think a lot of ex-tribers became attached to AE during Planetside 1.

I too spent hours and hours playing Tribes in the evenings - when not fighting actual clan wars (which was the bomb) it was stuff like pubplay and training nights.

Actually funnily enough, one of the most time intensive gaming experiences i've ever had online probably wasnt WoW - but was with AE's Battlefield Vietnam team when we entered some online tournament. Holy FUCK did that almost burn everyone out of gaming. That was some serious hours/commitment - but also bloody fun and one of the most enjoyable and least remembered experiences I've had online. Some amazing lols and legitimate tears back in those days.

Reason I love Planetside 2 is because it's a chance to play with the AE peeps, but i just dont have the focus to stay in it consistently, nor the time to commit to it. Plus voice comms when the wife is around is a nono. Gaming alone is always a battle between good and evil when the Mrs is home- but laughing away and having a good time on voice comms is just salt in that permanantly open wound. And i hate that, as i love to shoot the shit on TS also.

So then AE is active in PS2? If so I might consider doing a sub, even though I know that life as I know it will be over the second I log in.

Might need to wait until the netflix saga is over and people can actually play.
I'm playing a bit of D3 S3 as soon as the fighting goes to shite, the ping issue isnt as bad for me.

My internode connection has been poor for several months now. Definitely started prior to Netflix kicking in, but it's definitely affecting me and definitely a pain in the ass. #definitely

What is D3 S3? I had an outage today. I'm hoping it was related to NBN or some shit. My connection has been pretty stable but I don't know if it's gameworthy or not. Will just have to find out the hard way.

I’m not sure if it’s netfuxed but my exchange has been dropping me pretty hardcore over this and last month. Seems to be a bit better now but we’ll see what happens.

WB Dilli!

Not much group stuff being played at the moment after the great Ark: Survival Evolved rush of 15/16.

Maybe some will regroup for Battlefield?

Meanwhile I am trying to decide whether or not to pledge to Star citizen just for something new.... At east until the next Ark arrives!

I had a look at Star Citizen. Doesn't really look like I would have time to play it, so didn't bother subbing up.
